The first day, we organise a general meeting with all Tuk Tuk Trippers to guide you into the ways of the Tuk Tuk. We'll explain you how everything works, where you'll drive and what you'll see. You'll also receive your driving lessons this day. Therefore we recommend you to arrive one day early. This way, you have time enough to get used to the climate and the difference in time.

It's on the second day that the adventure really starts. When you feel completely comfortable in your tuk tuk, you may leave Negombo and make way to Sigiriya. You'll see a lot of beautiful villages along the way and by the end of the day, you'll see the all known rock rise from the horizon.

Today is the perfect day to put on your sport shoes and hike those famous rocks! You can choose to conquer the Lion's Rock (25€ entrance) itself or choose to hike the Pidurangala Rock right next to it. Last said option gives you the best view on the Lion's Rock, though. And.. it's free! We'll drive past beautiful lakes today and if you get in Polonnaruwa in time, you can visit the stunning temple complex. It's so big, we recommend you to rent a bike to get around (2€).

The third day takes us right through the majestic inland of the island. Amazing roads, not a lot of tourists and maybe some wild elephants by the Wasgamuwa National Park are on our way today. The breathtaking nature will reach her summit when you close in on the Victoria Randenigala Rantembe Sanctuary in Kandy.

Kandy is also home to the most famous Buddhist temple: the temple of the tooth. The temple hosts millions of tourists, all trying to see a glimpse of the tooth of Buddha, which was taken away from his remains and smuggled into Sri Lanka after he was cremated in India.

Because Kandy is a lovely oasis within the mountains you have the opportunity to visit the town on this extra day. You can relax a bit and enjoy the sceneries it has to offer you.

Today, a trip between rocky landscapes and picturesque scenery, we reach our next destination. Ella is a peaceful small village in the middle of a beautiful green countryside, with spectacular views! On a clear day, you can even see the glow from the lighthouses along the southern coast.

Ella has so much to offer, we decided to stay here for two nights. If you want to start the day off with an unforgettable experience, you can hike up to the summit of Adam's peak and watch sunrise from there. It's an unbelievable view.

But a beautiful day isn't the only thing starting in Ella. One of the most famous train trips in Sri Lanka knows his departure here. On the spot, you can buy a train ticket for a ridiculously low price and it'll take you to Haputale and back. The views along the way are unseen! Another option is to take a walk and pass the Nine Arches Bridge by foot.

You'll drive towards the Yala National Park, home of various wild animals, like leopards and elephants. Today you'll have the biggest chance to spot wild elephants along the way when you drive past the Udawalawe National Park. Tonight, we'll spend the night in Tissamaharama, the perfect basecamp for our safari the next day.

Today you'll start very early with a Yala National Park Safari to try your luck on spotting leopards.

We leave the inland behind for good. From now on, only "just like in the movies" coastlines will cross our path. We drive past the smaller Bundala National Park, famous for it's variety of birds, and then proceed to Tangale en Matare to end up in the laid back surf town of Mirissa.

Mirrisa is known as one of the surf walhalla's of the country and you can surf here all year. Surf boards are rentable at a very reasonable price at the beach. The most cosy beach is Secret Beach, hidden behind some rocks and palm trees. This town gives the chance to go whale watching if you want.

From Mirissa to your next stop, you'll follow the coastline up North. The first turn you'll make is an important one as it's right next to Galle. This ancient (Dutch) fort is an important aspect of the Sri Lankan trading business. You should definitely pay it a visit.

You pass some beaches where you can spot the stilt fisherman fishing from a pole in the sea and you can choose to visit a turtle hatchery where sea turtles are nurtured until they are ready to live their own lives in the ocean.

Today you can park your tuk tuk on the side and choose from an enormous offer of activities. You can either relax on the beach, visit the Babaryn Light House, go snorkeling at Crow Island, embark on a sunset cruise on a traditional catamaran, go crocodile watching, do some water sports or just drive around and enjoy the beautiful nature of Sri Lanka for one last time.

We'll end the day with a BBQ dinner and a camp fire on the beach.

Today is your last day with your Tuk Tuk. You can choose to experience this day in two different ways:

• You drop off the tuk tuk at Wadduwa and take a transfer bus back to the hotel in Negombo. This way, you don't need to drive in the chaotic traffic of Colombo.
• You have nerves of steel and you choose to drive the last part, right through Colombo and its never ending traffic jams but you enjoy the last ride with your loyal threewheeler.
